William Hill, time for final bets!, a London-based bookmaker, released the latest royal baby name odds on Tuesday, April 30, as Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry expects to welcome their first child any day now.
However, Diana, as a tribute to the late Princess Diana, Harry’s mother — leads the pack of girls’ names with 4:1 odds. As reported by the Telegraph. Victoria is in the second position at 7:1 and tied for the third position are Alice, Grace and Isabella/Isobella. While Alexandra, Elizabeth, Harriet, and Rose were on the top 10.
Talking about the boy’s names James, Arthur, and Albert are tied for the first position with odds of 16:1. Then comes Edward at 25:1, and a five 5-way tie between Henry, Alexander, Christopher, Daniel, and Phillip at 33:1, with Joseph bringing up the rear at 40:1.
Most of the names have special significance to the royal family. However, Philip and Elizabeth are the names of the royal baby’s great-grandparents. For instance, Victoria refers to the 19th-century queen, who had a son named Arthur.
Moreover, the Hill William rankings differ from the betting company Ladbrokes release in October, when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex initially announced that they are expecting a baby. Following the results, Victoria topped the list of girls’ names, while Albert tied with Philip and Arthur on the list of boys’ names.
Though, the royal baby will not automatically become a prince or princess, due to title limitations. If the child happens to be a boy, he could become Earl of Dumbarton, subsidiary titles bestowed upon Prince Harry, 34, from Queen Elizabeth on his wedding day.
The couple, Harry and Meghan, 37, who have been married since May 2018, disclosed that she is pregnant in October 2018.
The bet continues as Prince Harry expects to welcome their first child.
