Report from the persons living around the Lagos collapsed building at Ita-Faaji, housing a primary school, have disclosed that the building was marked for demolition in 2018.
However, government attention was drawn to stop developers from constructing high rise buildings in the area.
As reported, after marking the building for demolition in 2018, the building owner bribed officials and the demolition did not hold.
Meanwhile, the building has been giving signs of weakness but the owner always settles the officials whenever they come.
As alleged by one of the residents, “when the collapsed building was marked for demolition, the owners always brag that they have people in government that they can settle to overlook the proposed demolition of the building”.
