Lawmaker Dies Hours After He Was Announced Winner:
A lawmaker representing Pengana Constituency in the Plateau state House of Assembly, Afon Ezekiel, has died just a few hours after he was re-elected to represent the constituency.
The Secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state, Sati Bashir, confirmed the lawmaker’s death to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday, March 10, in Jos. According to the secretary, the lawmaker dies hours after he was re-elected which happened on Sunday afternoon.
“Though is quite unfortunate that we lost Afon Ezekiel, one of the most dedicated members of our great party (APC) and a committed lawmaker just after he was announced the winner to occupy his seat again. He has been ill for a while but the news of his demise came with a rude shock,” Sati stated.
As reported by NAN, Afon was first elected into the Assembly under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015 but defected to the ruling All Progressive Party in 2017.
