Soldier Murdered in Rivers Election:
Lieutenant Luka Ishaya Kurmi, a Nigerian soldier was murdered yesterday in Rivers state, just two months to his wedding.
However, Nigerian Army (NA) reported that troops of six (6) Division killed six (6) alleged political thugs and lost an officer in an encounter with the hoodlums during election duty in Abonnema, Akuku Toru Local Government Area (LGA) Rivers State.
Lieutenant Luka who was set to wed the love of his life, Alheri Ganya Bissa on Saturday, April 20, in Kebbi State.
Sagir Musa, Army spokesman in a statement said the attack which he claimed was pre-planned, happened in between Charles and Bob-Manuel’s compounds in Abonnema Town at about 1 am on February 23, 2019.

“The hoodlums barricaded a major route into the town and laid an ambush in the adjoining built-up areas from where they fired on our unsuspecting troops when they tried removing the barricade.
“Though the gallant troops fought their way through the siege and in the process killed six (6) of the hoodlums. Thus we lost a gallant soldier in the encounter.

Sekibo Roland, the Chairman Akuku Toru LGA, Omodo – the CSO Akuku Toru LGA and Kenneth of Kula currently at large masterminded the attack.
“The Nigerian Army strongly hereby said that the perpetrators of this ambush will definitely be made to face the full wrath of the law,”
