APC Chairman Killed In Imo:
Ifeanyi Ozoemena, the chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Logara/Umuohiagu ward in Ngor Okpala council area of Imo state, has reportedly been killed by gunmen yet to be known. According to the Nation, Ozoemena was murdered on Tuesday night, February 19, just shortly after presiding over a meeting of the party in the ward. He was killed in his house before his family members.
Chief Opara Martin, the community leader who confirmed the incident said that the killing had caused fear in the state. Besides, the incident has tensed the environment ahead of the presidential and National Assembly elections. Opara has, therefore, urged security agencies to arrest the killers of the APC chieftain in no distance time, adding that the community had never witnessed such political killing. As reported, he was shot many times in his house until he gave up.
Narrating the story, Chief Opara maintained that Logara people are peace lovers and said that the APC chairman killed finished hosting a meeting with members in his ward after which armed men arrived with Jeep and requested to see him. He was shot severally on sighting before they left. The killing was reportedly confirmed by the police in the state which revealed that officers had evacuated the remains.
Similarly, the police spokesman who confirmed the incident reiterated that the killers of the APC chieftain operated in an SUV Jeep.
Thus the police commissioner in Akwa Ibom, Makama Bashir, has expressed dismay on how politicians prefer to sponsor thugs to distort the peace and security of the state during this year’s general elections. Bashir tagged the accusation during a meeting with the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC and political stakeholders in Uyo on Tuesday, February 19, hence, urged the masses to report any form of violence perpetrated by thugs in the state before and during the 2019 general elections for immediate action.
