Today, January 22, Nigeria Labour Congress NLC declined the N27000 new national minimum wage adopted by the National Council of States.
The Secretary-General NLC, Dr Eson Ozo disclosed this today during an interview with NAN in Abuja.
According to him, after the Tripartite Committee had submitted its report of Thirty thousand naira minimum wage (N30000), the council has no jurisdiction to come up with a different amount.
However, It is so appalling for government to be delaying the submission of an Executive Bill to the National Assembly. Also very wrong adopting N27000 through the council of states.
Though Dr Eson Ozo has scheduled an emergency National Executive Council meeting for Friday to buttress on the deadline given to government to submit an executive bill to the National Assembly.
Is quite obvious the Federal Government was only projecting a shutdown of the economy with its latest action.
Therefore, workers should not be held responsible for any outcome after its Friday NEC meeting.
As NLC declined the N27000 new minimum wage, Nigerians reacts on the issue;
@ Babecode National Council of State,what will you gain by ‘cutting 3k from 30k’,in a nation where even Government agencies are declaring ‘record breaking’ Billions and trillions in revenues
Chizuru01 Both NLC and FG are playing games with nigerians
Ventura1 when oppressors determine the wages of the oppressed, what do you expect if not oppressive wage.
@ Olaric Buhari’s government is evil. The man and his group of crooks are so insensitive to the plight of hardworking Nigerians. Labour too don’t deserve any sympathy, I bet you that most of them are still supporting Buhari and screaming “Sai Baba.” Suffering and Smiling.
Let NLC shut down the country
Let everyone stay at home nonsense .
Is less than $100 to much to be paid to as Nigerian worker at the end of the month?
Why drag #3000 with NLC as if say una dey price tomatoes for mile12 market.
