Following the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, Trade Union Congress, TUC, United Labour Congress, ULC, and other labour unions meeting with the Federal Government yesterday over the New minimum wage issue.
Ayuba Wabba NLC President had earlier suspended the planned nationwide strike. He made this known while receiving the report of the Tripartite Committee on the Review of National Minimum Wage at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday endorsed thirty thousand naira (N30,000) as the new minimum wage. The approval was made while receiving the report of the Tripartite Committee on the Review of the Wage at Presidential Villa, Abuja.
With the approval, a bill is expected to be sent to the National Assembly to effect the change from eighteen thousand naira (N18,000) to thirteen thousand naira (N30,000).
