Today has been declared as National Day of mourning by labour and Outrage in protest against Federal Government apathy to their demand for a new minimum wage of N30,000. As promised, labour protest shuts down Lagos Major Roads.
The peaceful protest caused traffic gridlock from the Onipanu Bus Stop to Obanikoro Bus Stop as reported. However, the protesters were seen holding Nigeria Labour Congress flags and sharing fliers, to passers-by, which contained their demands. The protesters had earlier marched from Ojuelegba under the bridge in Surulere area of Lagos from 7 am through Onipanu, Anthony to the Freedom park in Ojota.
The Joint Labour union which comprises of Nigeria Labour Congress NLC, the Trade Union Congress TUC and the United Labour Congress ULC said: the March is also to sensitize Nigerians on the November 6 earlier planned strike action for N30000 minimum Wage.
