Abductors Of Leah Sharibu Demands: Leah was one of the one hundred and ten (110) pupils of the Government Technical and Science College GTSC Dapchi, Yobe State. They were abducted by Boko Haram sect on February 19, 2018. Since then, she had been denied freedom as she refused to denounce her religion.
On Saturday 27 October, a diplomatic source who spoke with Punch revealed before she could be released, N100bn ransom would be paid to the Abductors of Leah Sharibu as demanded early this year. Thus, claimed to be involved in the negotiation for the release of Leah.
“Not Advice-able to release the money. The terrorists could use the money to acquire sophisticated weapons which they would use in future to unleash terror on innocent citizens. Furthermore, he argued that giving such huge amount of money to the terrorist organization could pose a big threat to national security ahead of the 2019 general election. Not that the FG is not making good efforts at getting Leah Sharibu out of the grips of the Boko Haram. But we are aware that the terrorist organisation holding her is demanding N100bn ransom.”
Though no amount of money is too much to save the innocent soul, Leah Sharibu. Besides, the government of Nigeria is considering many options. The Government has to be careful and also diplomatic about it.
